Having blue eyes is actually a mutation. Before the mutation occurred, all humans had brown eyes. Biology nerds know that these mutations often occur in the womb. In this case, the OCA2 gene, which is also involved in the production of melanin, is disrupted to make the eyes blue rather than brown.
